Teaching Skills for Healthy &
Independent Living.
Project HEART provides stimulating, person-centered health education classes, skills training and resource information to people with developmental disabilities and those supporting them. Monthly training classes focus on health related topics, such as cooking and nutrition, exercising, personal hygiene, depression management, relationships and problem solving.
The Project HEART philosophy is that each of us learns best by doing and having fun at the same time. Each class is designed for everyone to participate, not just sit and listen. Because of the unique needs of each participant, we often modify classroom information and activities to accommodate learning styles and abilities. Participants learn, laugh and leave wanting to come back again.
Interactive Convenient
Community Presentations
Project HEART works with class participants, local communities and agencies to provide educational classes in convenient locations and on convenient schedules to allow full opportunity for participants to keep their work and social life schedules. Project HEART will meet specific requests for class times and locations when possible.
Project HEART has been fully funded by DDRB to continue monthly class schedules in St. Charles County.
